The Giving Husband

Before I met my wife, I was not the best at gift-giving.

It always stressed me out.

I never quite knew what to get somebody.

And there were plenty of gifts that I gave that DID NOT hit their mark.

I still remember giving my dad a butane torch lighter for his birthday once...

I kid you not. He seriously asked "Is that it?"

And I get it.

It's not awesome to get something that's not awesome.

But it was only once I met my wife that I really got it.

And that I started to really develop my gift-giving craft.

You see, one of my wife's love languages is gifts.

Both gift-giving and gift-receiving.

This was something that was totally new to me.

Before, I confess, I actually low-key thought that having that as a kind of shitty thing about people.

It seemed materialistic to me.

But the reality is.

I just didn't get it....

Thanks to my wife, though, now I do!

You see, gifts don't have to be expensive to be good.

What's most important is that they be a physical embodiment of the fact that you love or care for the person.

See, love can be very abstract. But a gift makes it concrete. It makes it real.

If you can, further, plug into one of that person's interests, then you're well on your way to gifting something awesome.

But you can go EVEN further in the craft of gift-giving in my experience.

You can do so by getting PHILOSOPHICAL with it.

You see, once I realized what was important and powerful about giving gifts...

I started reflecting on how to really build on that.

How to show even more thoughtfulness. Even more consideration. Even more love. With the gifts that you give.

And I realized that one powerful way to do so is by looking at different gifts you give a person as what I like to call a synergistic organic unity.

This is fancy philosopher speak for wholes that are greater than the sum of their parts.

Different gifts can be thought of as part of a whole gift experience.

Or a totality of gifts you've given them.

For example, my wife loves Funko Pops. They are a great collection of figures that spans all kinds of franchises including Star Wars, Marvel, Anime, and basically anything else you can think of.

Each of them is cool and well-crafted. But what's ESPECIALLY sweet about having different ones is that it allows you to have all kinds of characters from the same AND different universes that all have the same aesthetic.

This makes the collection of characters more awesome than if you just had random different figures with different styles.

When I first met my wife, she already had a collection of Pops.

But I've helped her build it with all kinds of characters.

Whenever I give her one, I like to make it a character from something that we have experienced together. To make the addition of this new part to her collection. EVEN more special and valuable.

Another example is certain pieces of jewelry that I've given my wife.

I found a certain kind of sparkly crystal double bracelet with a magnetic clasp that really resonates with her.

At first, I gave her one.

But I since have found out that they come in all kinds of colors.

And that there are other bracelets and necklaces with the same aesthetic.

So, I've given her more of these as time has passed.

Building on the previous crystal bracelets.

Adding different colored bracelets.

Ones that complement the ones that I've already given her.

So they can all come together into an awesome set that she can all wear together!

Again, in this way, each subsequent gift is not just another random piece of jewelry.

Each is part of a synergistically growing collection that she can wear in different combinations!

Synergistic organic unities like these collections of gifts I give my wife are all around us...

They hold the power to radically transform our lives for the better...

You just have to know how to look for them...

And that's precisely one of the key things I teach my happiness coaching clients

I teach them not only how to look for them and find them.

But also how to cultivate them.

How to unlock their massive transformative potential.

So, if you're ready to unlock the value in your life using philosophy

If you're ready to consciously and effectively build the life of your dreams, check it out!

And begin getting more out of anything and everything around you.
